Mindfulness Courses

Would you like to be less stressed? Would you like to live each day in the moment instead of living in the past, or rushing around trying to complete your ‘to-do’ list? Would you like to be able to cope with difficult situations in a calm and peaceful manner?

LightHearts UK has developed a range of mindfulness courses which cover all the main mindfulness practices and techniques that will allow you to finally take control of your life and emotions.

Unlike other courses that only add to your to-do list, mindfulness is not a wellbeing practice that you fit into your day like a trip to the gym, or something that you have to tick off like some sort of chore. It is something you can do at any time of the day and night, and with the help of the mindful methods and techniques you will find you’ll be practising mindfulness naturally on a moment to moment basis without even thinking about it.

The courses are taken by Katya Jezzard-Puyraud who is a fully qualified mindfulness and meditation instructor. In a relaxed one-to-one setting, you’ll be treated with kindness and patience as you are gently led through the techniques and given the tools to carry out mindfulness practices at home each week for yourself.

Here is one testimonial from a happy customer who took the course:

From the first session, I was made to feel at ease in the relaxed atmosphere. Katya was so friendly and welcoming and her positiveness certainly rubbed off on me. Each session was well structured with enough time to practice all the techniques. The explanation of each technique was easy to understand & was very informative. I have come away after six weeks feeling that I have been given many tools to help me with my mental well-being. Katya is an amazing teacher and I would recommend anyone to come and see her to try mindfulness. Thank you so much for believing in me and giving me the courage to go for it!

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness was founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979, when he developed the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program at the University of Massachusetts to treat the chronically ill. Since that time, the practice has yielded such excellent results that it has now been adopted in schools, prisons, hospitals and veterans' centres around the world.

Mindfulness is a practice that allows us to notice the present moment – our thoughts, physical sensations and emotions – with kindness and without any judgement of ourselves or of others. By using various exercises such as meditation, breathing exercises and other simple methods, we can become more productive and less ‘busy’, we can moderate our emotions and actions, reduce stress and therefore find joy in everyday life once again.

Mindfulness is a practice that can have life-changing effects. Throughout the world mindfulness is now being hailed as not only an effective stress-reliever but also as a way to help those with chronic illnesses. (You can click HERE to read an article about the scientific study Harvard University recently carried out on how mindfulness can actually change the brain’s neural pathways and help those suffering from stress and depression.)

Here are just some of the benefits of mindfulness practice:

  • Increases immune function & energy levels

  • Lowers blood pressure & heart rate

  • Increases attention, focus & perception

  • Increases optimism and relaxation

  • Lessens worry, anxiety and impulsivity

  • Improves resilience against pain and adversity

  • Improves feelings of being calm and internally still

  • Gives feelings of being connected

  • Helps prevent emotional eating, smoking and addictive behaviour

  • Lessens feelings of fear, loneliness and depression

  • Increases memory recall and function

  • Increases creative and cognitive thinking

  • Helps in acceptance of how things really are, instead of how you want things to be

Course Options

There are three options for the mindfulness courses. The Mindfulness Workshop, the more intensive 6 Week Course, and the Mindfulness Boost session.

LightHearts UK Mindfulness Workshop

For people who want a taste of mindfulness and who want to learn some great easy techniques to get them into the practice, there is a three-hour mindfulness workshop available.

You’ll be given an overview of the practice, a chance to practice some of the techniques and worksheets to take away with you with free audios and videos to help you keep on the mindfulness path.

The course costs £60 for the three hours and is offered as a one-to-one course. Or if you’d like to book as a group a flat-rate price can be offered.

LightHearts UK 6 Week Mindfulness Course

The most comprehensive course is the one-on-one course where you spend an hour and a half once a week for six weeks. In-depth work with the client helps to pinpoint exactly where the causes of their stress, anxiety or depression comes from, which then forms the basis of the course with mindfulness techniques tailored especially to that individual. Every week comes with a check-in to assess progress and to give time for any additional issues and solutions to be discussed.

Individual worksheets with free audios and videos are written up especially for that client each week in order for them to practice their particular techniques at home between each session. The course costs £120 for the six sessions.

Lighthearts UK Mindfulness Boost Session

The Mindfulness Boost Session is a class for those who have already learnt the basics of mindfulness. It will help your practice by either learning more techniques, discussing difficulties that have arisen or just to have a refresher session to help you keep focused on your practice.

These are one-off top up classes that can be organised at a time to suit you to help keep you on the mindful path. The session is two hours long, at a cost of £40.

The sessions exceeded my expectations! I was quite cynical before I started but the techniques that I learnt were easy to implement into everyday life. Thank you Katya - your warm, friendly and welcoming approach helped me to instantly feel at ease. I genuinely enjoyed every session. Also the setting that you have provided for your sessions is perfect. Beautifully decorated and tranquil. I feel so hopeful now and happier in every way! I am very grateful.
